ASKED QUESTIONS
PAGA is a big subject. It is an important safety system. Below is a section that will evolve over time and includes some simple (and hopefully useful) answers to questions that we get frequently asked. Please note that this section is not a scientific analysis but some guidelines that will help you on your way.
ZIZTEL THREE PIN AUDIO XLR
CONNECTOR ASSIGNMENT
(image adjacent: left to right)
Canon XLR3-12C (line), Switchcraft X3F (line), Neutrik NC3MP panel, Neutrik NC3FP panel
EIA Standard RS-297-A describes the use of the XLR3 for balanced audio signal level applications
PIN FUNCTION
- OV Ground (cable shield)
- Positive polarity terminal for balanced audio circuits (‘hot’)
- Negative polarity terminal for balanced circuits (‘cold’)
WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM CABLE LENGTH FOR INTERCONNECTING SPEAKERS?
(Scenario…speakers connecting loudspeakers to a central amplifier rack under the following conditions…ZEST 350A Class G amplifier rated 350 Watts,Line voltage V is industry standard 100V RMS, Line current A is 3.5 Amperes ie FULLY LOADED 350 Watt circuit, Maximum design volt drop Vd is 15V +/- 5%Conductor Cross Sectional Area [CSA]
Single twisted pair with overall braided, lap or foil screen. Twisted pair defined as a minimum of one complete twist of the pair every 100mm.
- 0.75mm 2 CSA conductors = 100 M
- 1.0mm 2 CSA conductors = 130 M
- 1.5mm 2 CSA conductors = 200 M
- 2.5mm 2 CSA conductors = 300 M
- 4.0mm 2 CSA conductors = 500 M
- 6.0mm 2 CSA conductors = 800 M
- 10mm 2 CSA conductors = 1300 M
WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM CABLE LENGTH FOR INTERCONNECTING BEACONS?
Beacons are generally used in areas of high noise. Typically it is accepted that this will be areas where the ambient background noise is in excess of 85dBA. Different standards will dictate which colours of beacons are used in different areas. We would recommend that in areas of bright sunlight that beacons under 15 Joules are not used Scenario… the following conditions… Up to ten flashing beacons, Line voltage V 230V RMS, Average line current A is 2.6 A, Maximum design volt drop Vd is 20V +/- 5%
Cable is a three conductor with Live / Neutral or Live / Live each with an earth conductor. Note the protective earth can be derived locally reducing core count to two conductors.
- 1.0mm 2 CSA conductors = 230 M
- 1.5mm 2 CSA conductors = 350 M
- 2.5mm 2 CSA conductors = 600 M
- 4.0mm 2 CSA conductors = 950 M
- 6.0mm 2 CSA conductors = 1400 M
- 10mm 2 CSA conductors = 2400 M
MAXIMUM CABLE LENGTH FOR AP100-01?
The maximum length and specification of the field cable connecting a Ziztel AP100-01 access unit to the central rack access unit LTD004 termination device is up to 800 M single twisted pair with overall braided screen minimum Cross Sectional Area (CSA) 0.75mm2 per conductor. Twisted pair defined as a minimum of one complete twist of the pair every 100mm.
MAXIMUM CABLE LENGTH FOR ZAP10-02?
The maximum length and specification of the field cable connecting a Ziztel ZAP10-02 ATEX IECEx access unit to the central rack access unit LTD004 / LTD020 termination device is up to 2000 M twisted pair(s) with overall braided screen minimum Cross Sectional Area (CSA) 0.75mm2 per conductor. Twisted pair defined as a minimum of one complete twist of the pair every 100mm.
HOW MANY LOUDSPEAKERS WILL A ZIZTEL 350A AMPLIFIER DRIVE?
The 350A is rated at 350 Watts RMS and unlike competing designs can be loaded and driven continuously, i.e. 100% duty cycle, with a full 350 Watt load connected.
Example:-
- 350 x 1 Watt loudspeakers
- 35 x 10 Watt loudspeakers
- 14 x 25 Watt loudspeakers
